Rotational grazing means the fence changes shape several times a season, and the insulators on a wood post line get used far harder than the ones on a boundary fence. What matters is how fast the wire comes out and goes back in. Twenty-five yellow pinlock insulators per pack, Patriot SKU 820034. The conductor drops into the slot and a pin closes it, so removing the wire is a matter of lifting one pin per post rather than working the strand out of a closed eye. It takes polywire and fence wire, and it nails or screws to the front or the back of a wood post. Yellow makes sense on the wires you move. When half the fence is permanent and half is not, colour is the fastest way to tell the crew, or yourself in six months, which strands come down and which stay. Keep it off corners and out of high-tensile runs. Those loads belong on a strain insulator, and a pinlock asked to hold a corner will let go at the worst time.
