Half-inch tape is the middle ground between poliwire and the wide 1-1/2 inch horse tape. It is visible enough that horses and cattle respect it, but narrow enough that it does not act like a sail in a Prairie wind or load up badly with wet snow. For most acreage and paddock work it is the tape people end up settling on. Six stainless steel conductors are woven into the webbing, so current is spread across the width and the line keeps working even after a strand or two fails with age. The woven construction also handles being rolled on and off a reel without the fraying you get from cheaper tape. At 1,320 feet this roll covers a quarter-mile single strand, or a smaller enclosure fenced two or three strands high. It runs well on tread-in posts for strip grazing and on standard tape insulators for semi-permanent lines. Join and terminate it with half-inch tape buckles, never a knot, which crushes the conductors and leaves everything downstream dead. Patriot lists a one-year UV guarantee.
