Pulling wire out of a closed insulator is a job for a screwdriver and bad language. On any fence that comes down seasonally, whether that is a hay field cross fence, a lane that has to open for machinery, or a paddock divided differently each year, that adds up over a hundred posts. The pin is what makes the difference. Lift the pin, the conductor comes out of the slot, and the insulator stays nailed to the post ready for next time. Patriot lists this one for polywire and fence wire, fixed with nails or screws through the mounting holes on the front or the back of the post. Twenty-five to a pack in black, SKU 820033. Know its limits. It is a line insulator, not intended for corners and not rated for high-tensile wire. The tension at a corner or a tie-off has to go into a strain fitting designed to take it. Mount on the side the stock press against, and keep the pins somewhere sensible when the fence is down. A pin in the grass is a pin gone.
