Details
Horses and standoff wires are a bad combination unless the wire is obvious. A conductor sitting 13 cm out from the fence face is exactly where a horse's shoulder goes when it turns along a fence line, and a strand it cannot see is a strand it will hit at speed. The yellow body marks the offset clearly at distance and in poor light. Patriot rates the offset at 13 cm (5 inches), the pack contains twenty-five insulators with nails, and the conductor range covers poliwire, polirope and steel or aluminium wire. SKU 820027, and the manufacturer lists a five-year warranty across the slant range. Use the deeper offset where you want animals well off the fence: protecting a rail fence from cribbing, keeping horses back from a wire line fence, or holding cattle clear of old page wire that would otherwise get flattened. If you already run 2 inch slants elsewhere, keeping the deeper offset in a different colour is a small thing that helps at inventory time and when somebody else is doing the fixing.
