Patriot white jumbo screw-in ring insulator (25 pack)
Screw-in ring insulators with a jumbo eye that takes rope or wire up to 6 mm (1/4 inch), 25 to a pack for wood posts.
Details
A ring insulator is the quickest way to add a hot wire to a fence that already exists. No nails, no bracket, no taking the wire off the post. Drill a pilot hole, screw the insulator in and thread the conductor through the eye. The jumbo eye is the point of this one. It accepts wires and ropes up to 6 mm (1/4 inch), which is where standard ring insulators run out of room and polyrope starts binding and wearing at the entry. The body is UV-stabilised white plastic, twenty-five to a pack, Patriot SKU 814590. Drill the guide hole first, especially in dry poplar or treated wood. Driving the threaded shank into hardwood without a pilot will twist the head off before it seats. Size the bit to the shank rather than the thread, and stop turning once the insulator is snug against the post. Because the conductor threads through a closed ring, plan the run before you start. You want to feed the wire through all of them in one pass, which means having the insulators in and the roll at one end rather than working post by post.
