Details
Solar energizers live outdoors and take punishment. Hail, a horse rubbing the post, a bale rolled a little too close, a quad backing up in the dark. The case cracks or the lid gets broken, water starts finding its way in, and a unit that was working perfectly begins to die from the outside in. This is the complete case assembly, so you can rebuild rather than replace. Housing a solar energizer is a real job. It has to stay sealed through driving rain, seal again after you open it to service a battery, and hold together across a temperature range running from thirty above to forty below. That is why a compromised case is worth fixing properly instead of patching with tape and hoping for the best. Check it against your unit before ordering, since the solar range covers several different housings. When you fit it, inspect the battery and the panel connections at the same time. If water has been getting in, corrosion at the terminals is likely, and cleaning that up while the unit is already apart saves pulling it off the post again in a month.
