Yellow is the colour you pick when the fence needs to be noticed. A row of yellow insulators reads as a line from a distance, so a rider, a quad, a visiting neighbour or a kid on a bike sees the wire before meeting it. On a rod post fence that is worth real money, because bare rod posts are close to invisible in tall grass, and a fence nobody can see is a fence somebody eventually rides into. The insulator itself does the electrical work. It threads onto the rod post and holds the conductor well clear of the metal, so the fence is not simply shorting into the ground at every post. Rod posts conduct, and without a proper standoff there is no fence there at all. They come off as easily as they go on, which suits seasonal cross fencing and any rod post that gets pulled and reset through a rotation. Twenty-five per pack covers a decent run. Use yellow anywhere visibility and safety matter, and save the black ones for the yard fences where you would rather the wire faded into the background.
