Patriot replacement 6v gel cell battery solarguard 50
The 6V gel cell replacement battery for the SolarGuard 50, sold on its own so a working energizer does not get thrown out.
Details
When a small solar energizer starts losing the fence overnight, the fault is nearly always the battery. Panels fade slowly and the electronics rarely quit, but a gel cell has a finite number of charge cycles in it, and that number gets used up faster in a unit spending fall and winter short of sun. This is the 6V gel cell that belongs in a SolarGuard 50. Fitting the right one keeps the charging circuit doing what it was designed to do. A mismatched battery either sits permanently undercharged or gets cooked, and neither ends well. The tell that you need one is a fence that reads strong in the afternoon and poor at first light. Test at the same point on the line morning and evening for a day or two before you order, so you know you are chasing a battery and not a short out in the grass somewhere. When you fit the new one, wipe the panel down. Dust, pollen and a winter of road grime cut charging noticeably, and a clean panel is free capacity.
