Patriot porcelain screw-in insulator (small) (25 per box)
Small porcelain screw-in insulators, twenty-five to a box, for permanent line posts where a compact standoff does the job.
Details
Same porcelain durability as the large version in a shorter body, and twenty-five to the box instead of fifteen. This is the one for the straight run of a permanent fence, where the wire is not under much side load and you do not need a long standoff to hold it clear of the post. Working down a fence line, the small size is quicker to drive and cheaper per post, which matters when you are insulating a mile of wire rather than a handful of corners. Save the large ones for the spots that genuinely need extra clearance and put these everywhere in between. The reason to buy porcelain at all is the long game. A plastic screw-in does the job for a few seasons, then goes hard, cracks around the screw hole and starts leaking current somewhere you will never spot from the truck. Porcelain does not care about sunlight or cold cycling. On a permanent perimeter in this climate that is worth the extra up front. Drive them square to the post so the wire seats properly in the groove, and pre-drill in dry, hard wood.
