Details
Pipe corrals and steel panels are the hardest place to put a hot wire, because every bit of steel is a path to ground. These clamp-on insulators solve that. They grip the pipe rail and hold the conductor off the steel, so your energizer is not dumping straight into the corral. Where they earn their keep is a pen full of horses or bulls that lean, rub and chew. A single hot strand set at chest height along the top rail stops the leaning before it bends a panel, and it saves the mane and tail rubbing that comes with a hard-sided pen. Same job on the inside of a windbreak or along a feed alley where cattle push the rail all winter. Black holds up well in sunlight and disappears against dark pipe, which is worth something on a yard fence you look at every day. Space them close enough that the wire cannot sag onto the steel, because sag is what gets you in winter, when a wire loaded with hoar frost drops onto a rail and kills the fence overnight. Ten to a pack, so measure your rail length first.
