Details
Chain link keeps things in until something decides to climb it, dig under it, or lean on it until the fabric bellies out. An offset hot wire fixes all three, and this insulator is how you hang that wire without energizing the fence itself. The insulator attaches to the chain link and holds the conductor out clear of the mesh, so the current goes where you want it and not into the galvanized fabric. Common uses around a yard or acreage: keeping a dog from working at the bottom of the fence, keeping deer from testing the top, or stopping horses and cattle in an adjoining pen from rubbing the mesh out of shape. Black is the low-profile option. On a residential or yard fence where you would rather the wire was not the first thing a visitor notices, black disappears against the mesh and stands up well to sun. Twenty-five to a pack, which covers a decent run at normal spacing. Space them close enough that the wire holds its offset distance and does not sag back onto the fabric in a heavy snow load.
