Patriot bullnose porcelain insulator (10 per box)
Ten porcelain bullnose insulators, the heavy-duty choice for end and corner strains on a hard-hitting energizer.
Details
Plastic insulators are fine for most line work, but there are places on a fence where they are the weak point. High output energizers put real voltage through the system, and over years of sun, cold and moisture a plastic insulator can start to track, letting current creep across its surface to the post. Porcelain does not do that. It does not go brittle in UV, it does not soften, and it will still be doing its job long after the wire around it has been replaced. The bullnose pattern is shaped to carry a strained wire around a rounded shoulder rather than a sharp bend, which keeps the wire from being worked and fatigued at the one spot it is under the most tension. That makes it a sound choice at corners, ends and anywhere a run changes direction under load. Ten to a box. They are more expensive than plastic and worth it in the specific places where a leak or a failure costs you a whole line: main corners, gateway ends, and the terminations on any run pushed by a powerful energizer.
