Patriot wood post gate anchor (2 pack)
An insulated screw-in anchor that gives an electric gate handle something to hook to on a wood post, two per pack.
Details
The hook end of an electric gate is where most temporary gateways get botched. A nail in the post shorts the handle to ground the moment it is closed, a loop of wire wears through, and an old insulator not built for the pull tears out of the wood. This anchor screws into the wood post and gives the gate handle a fixed, insulated point to latch onto. Because it is insulated, closing the gate does not send the current straight into the post, so the fence stays hot right across the opening. Patriot lists it for poliwire, polirope and steel or aluminium wire, under product code 880 0001-300, two anchors per pack. Two per pack matches the job: one at each end of a gateway, so the handle has an anchor at the latch end and the conductor has a proper termination at the other. A single gate opening uses the pack. Set the anchor at the height the gate wire runs so the handle pulls square rather than at an angle. Keep the gateway wire slightly slack when closed, because a gate strained tight is a gate that pulls the anchor out the first time a machine catches it.
