A multi-strand tape fence is only as good as the link between strands. Feeding each strand separately from the energizer is a nuisance and doubles the number of connections at the terminal, while bridging them with a length of twisted wire wrapped around the tape gives you two poor joints instead of one good one. This fitting jumps the current vertically from one politape strand to the one below it, clamping across the tape so it picks up the woven conductors rather than pinching a few of them. It suits politape up to 40 mm (1.5 inches) and is sold singly, Patriot product code 880 0003-238. Note the direction of the job. This is a strand-to-strand jumper, not an end-to-end splice for joining two lengths of tape in the same run. That is a different fitting, and using the wrong one leaves a joint that will not hold tension. Fit the jumpers at a post rather than mid-span, where the tape is held and the connector is not swinging in the wind. One set near the energizer end is usually enough on a short fence; on a long run a second set part way along keeps the strands even if one gets loaded down by grass.
