Patriot wide tape to energizer connector
The fitting that joins an energizer lead-out wire to politape, sized for both 12 mm (1/2 inch) and 40 mm (1.5 inch) tape.
Details
Polytape does not carry current in the plastic. It carries it in the fine metal filaments woven through the weave. Twisting a lead-out wire around the tape or pinching it under a screw contacts a handful of those filaments at best, and the joint corrodes and goes high-resistance within a season. This connector clamps across the tape so it picks up the conductors along the full width, and takes the energizer lead-out on the other end. It suits politape in both the 12 mm (1/2 inch) and 40 mm (1.5 inch) widths and is sold as a single unit. Patriot lists it under product code 880 0003-233. Put it somewhere you can reach and inspect. The energizer connection is the first thing to check when a tape fence reads low, and a connector buried behind a corner brace or wrapped in tape is a connection nobody checks. If the fence tests strong at the connector and weak fifty metres down the line, the fault is in the tape itself or in a joint further along rather than here. That is worth knowing before you start pulling the terminal apart.
