Details
A wood post fence rebuilt as a horse fence usually keeps the posts and changes everything else. The rails or the barbed wire come off, tape goes on, and the question becomes how to mount 40 mm of tape to a post face that was never drilled for it. These fix with nails or screws through the mounting holes, front or back of the post, and hold politape up to 40 mm (1.5 inches) flat across its width. Twenty-five per pack, Patriot SKU 814596, and they will go on a metal post as readily as wood. Fix them to the side the animals are on. Tape pushed against the post face by a leaning horse stays put; tape pulled away from a back-mounted insulator can drag it off the nails. On a line fence with stock both sides, the back of the post and a longer nail is the compromise. These are line insulators only. Where the run turns or terminates, the tension has to be taken by a corner or end strain fitting. Nailing a line insulator onto a corner post and hoping is the most common way a new tape fence gets ruined.
