Patriot underground cable - 50' roll
Fifteen metres (50 ft) of double-insulated 12.5 gauge galvanised cable for energizer lead-outs and gateway crossings run underground.
Details
The place most electric fences leak voltage is not the fence at all. It is the run between the energizer and the fence, or the bit that crosses a gateway. Bare wire in a trench or a length of household wire pushed through poly pipe will bleed to ground, and you can chase that fault for a season before you find it. This is 15.2 m (50 ft) of 12.5 gauge galvanised conductor with double insulation and a UV-stable jacket, listed by Patriot as product code 880 0000-254. It is made for the lead-out from the energizer terminal to the first fence post, and for carrying the hot side under a gateway to the next section of fence. Bury it deep enough that a tractor tire or a frost heave will not find it. A spade's depth through a gateway is the usual minimum, more where you cross a lane. Keep the joints above ground where you can see them, and use proper connectors rather than twisting bare ends together, because a buried twist is the fault you will never locate. One roll covers a typical energizer-to-fence run plus a gateway or two. Where the energizer sits well back from the fence, measure the actual route including the vertical drops before deciding how many rolls you need.
