Details
Walk-through gates and light paddock gates rarely get proper hardware. They end up with a loop of baler twine or a chain that has to be threaded, which is fine once and irritating by the hundredth time. The small latch is sized for round tube gates measuring 32 to 38 mm (1 1/4 to 1 1/2 inches) across, the lighter tube used on personnel gates and horse paddock gates rather than heavy corral panels. It works from inside or out, takes a padlock, and is listed by distributors as part 831694. Gate-side mounting hardware is supplied. Check the tube diameter with a tape before choosing between this and the large version. The two are not interchangeable, and a latch on undersized tube will rattle loose. If the gate sags at all, shim or re-hang it first, because a two-way latch relies on the gate returning to the same position each time. It is a mechanical latch. Keeping the fence hot across the gate opening is a separate job, handled with insulated cable buried under the gateway.
