Details
A gateway needs a proper anchor at each end. Hooking a gate handle straight onto a T-post is not an option, because the steel is grounded and the whole gate would short out the moment you closed it. These anchors mount to the post and give you an insulated point to hook and unhook against. They also take the load. Every time somebody pulls a gate closed, all the tension in the gate wire lands on that one point, and it happens several times a day for years on end. An anchor built for the job stays put. A makeshift arrangement of wire and tape works loose inside a season, and then you are fixing a gateway in the mud with the cattle watching. Two to a pack, which is one gateway if you anchor both ends, or two gateways if you only need the far side. On a fence line built with T-posts, these are what let you put a gate wherever you actually want one instead of digging a wooden post every time. Set them at a height where the gate wire is obvious to stock and easy to reach without bending double.
