Tread-in posts are what make rotational grazing practical. You walk the line, step the spike in, clip the wire on and keep moving. No driving, no tools, no auger, and when the mob moves you pull them and do it again somewhere else. The Sentinel is a plastic post with moulded clips, so the insulator is part of the post and there is nothing extra to lose or break in the grass. Plastic has the further advantage of insulating on its own, so a wire that slips its clip does not instantly kill the fence, which is more than you can say for a steel rod post. Fifty to a box sounds like plenty until you are cross fencing a quarter. Buy enough that you can leave one paddock standing while you build the next, rather than robbing posts from behind you every move. Spring treading is easy once the frost is out. Late summer on baked clay is another matter, so wait for a rain or step them in where the ground is softest, and pull them before hard freeze-up rather than trying to break them out in December.
