Details
Rope and braid do not tie well. A knot holds mechanically, but the conductors inside get crushed and bunched, and what you end up with is a joint that reads fine on a warm day and drops voltage the moment it turns cold and the plastic contracts. These clamps are the proper answer. The clamp grips the rope or braid and holds the strands in solid contact, so you get a mechanical termination and an electrical one in the same fitting. Use them where the fence ends, where it turns a hard corner and the line has to be terminated and restarted, or where you pick the rope back up on the far side of a gateway. Three to a pack, which covers a gateway or a corner with a bit spare. Do them up properly and check them again after the first hard cold snap, because everything on a fence line moves in the first real freeze. A poor joint is the classic hidden fault: strong at the energizer, weak at the far end, and an afternoon of walking before you find the connection that was never quite tight.
