Details
A PS5 that flashes away happily in bright sun but goes flat overnight has a tired battery, not a dead energizer. The 4V gel cell inside is a consumable, the same way brake pads are, and swapping it costs a fraction of replacing the whole unit. This is the matching 4V cell for the PS5. Voltage and physical size both have to be right for it to seat in the housing and charge properly off the small onboard panel, so grabbing something close off the parts shelf usually ends in a cell that never charges fully or a lid that will not close. Expect a few seasons out of a battery in a small solar unit, and less if it has spent winters sitting at low charge. Deep discharge is what kills them. If you pull the PS5 for the winter, store it where it can still see light or give the battery a top-up before it sits. When you fit the new cell, wipe the panel face clean at the same time, since a dirty or shaded panel is often what wore the old one out.
