Details
The SolarGuard 2000 is a genuine production energizer that happens to carry its own power supply. Patriot rates it at 2.6 stored joules and 2.0 joules of output, up to 50 miles of fence or 165 acres. That is real coverage without a power pole anywhere in sight. Which is exactly why it makes sense out here. Plenty of grazing land in western Canada sits a long way from the yard, and running power to a remote pasture is not going to happen. A 28W panel and an internal rechargeable 12V battery let you set the unit at the fence and walk away. Multiple power modes let you dial output down to stretch the battery through short days or a long overcast stretch, then bring it back up when the sun returns. The battery is accessible one-handed and LED status lights tell you what the unit is doing from a distance. Face the panel south and clear of shade, and brush the snow off it in winter, because a buried panel charges nothing. Coverage figures assume a clean line and good grounding, and grass and a poor ground field cost you here the same as on any mains unit. Three-year warranty.
