Six hundred and sixty feet is the roll most people reach for when the job is one paddock rather than a whole grazing plan. It fits a standard reel without filling it, it is light enough to pack to the far corner of a field, and it is a manageable amount of wire to wind back up by hand at the end of a rotation. Keep a couple in the truck and you have repair stock as well as build stock. Temporary fence eventually takes a hit from a falling limb, a piece of machinery, or a moose that decided the wire was not there, and having a short roll on hand means you splice it properly instead of tying a knot and hoping. White is deliberate. Livestock respect a wire they can see, and a visible line does most of the training work in the first day a mob is behind it. Run it high enough to stay clear of the grass, join lengths with a proper connector rather than a knot, and give it a solid ground field. A short run does not save you from bad grounding.
