The PMX600 is built for outfits with a lot of livestock and a lot of wire. Patriot rates it at 9.9 stored joules, 6.7 joules of output, up to 100 miles of fence or 300 acres. That is enough to energize a full grazing system, permanent perimeter and a season of temporary cross fencing hanging off it. At this size the energizer stops being the limiting factor and your installation becomes the limiting factor. A unit like this will happily push six or seven joules into a bad ground field and you will never see any of it on the wire. Build the ground bed first: several rods, well separated, in the wettest ground on the yard, joined with proper clamps rather than twisted wire. It runs on 110V and mounts a few different ways inside a dry building. Take the lead-out through the wall to a cut-out switch so you can split the system when you are chasing a short. On 100 miles of fence, being able to isolate one leg is the difference between a ten minute job and losing an afternoon. Three-year warranty including lightning.
