Two joules of output from 2.7 stored joules, rated by Patriot at up to 50 miles of fence or 200 acres. This is the size where you stop thinking about paddocks and start thinking about a whole operation: multiple quarters, a long boundary, several branches off one energizer. Power comes from a 110 volt outlet or a 12 volt battery, with the adaptor and battery leads included, and the unit is solar compatible. On a place where the fence system reaches well past the yard, that matters. You can run it off the shed while the cattle are close in, then move it out on a battery and panel when they go to summer pasture, without buying a second unit. Low impedance design, LED indicator, and a three-year warranty from Patriot that covers lightning damage. One thing worth saying plainly: a bigger energizer does not fix a bad ground system. Once you are pushing this much energy down a line, the earth side has to keep up, which usually means several ground rods spaced out and properly clamped, especially through the months the top of the soil is frozen hard.
