Details
Temporary fence lives or dies on how fast you can put it up and take it down. A reel is what makes that possible. Wire comes off it in a straight line as you walk, and goes back onto it just as fast when you are done, without the knots and tangles you get from a coil thrown in the back of the truck. The mini is the small one, and it suits the jobs that do not need a full-size reel: a strip across a corner, a lane between paddocks, fencing stock off a slough or a wet spot for a few weeks, or a temporary line while you rebuild a permanent fence. It is light enough to carry in one hand with a bundle of posts in the other. The habit worth building is winding up clean. Wire that goes back on the reel under a little tension comes off the next time without a fight. Wire stuffed on in a hurry in a cold wind is the wire that costs you twenty minutes the following spring. Mount it on a post or carry it, and keep the poly clear of the ground while you work.
