Moving cattle through a gate that will not stay open is a job that goes wrong quickly. The gate swings back, an animal turns, and the whole draft breaks and heads the wrong way. A gate anchor holds the gate where you put it so you can work the stock instead of the gate. It fits round tube gates from 1 3/4 to 2 inches outside diameter, which covers the standard farm gate, and the mounting hardware comes with it. The same fitting works as a horizontal slide latch when the gate is closed, so one piece of hardware handles both ends of the job. Everything is zinc coated, which is the part that matters in a climate that puts hardware through snow, meltwater, mud and road salt every year. Bare steel at a gateway rusts fast because that is the wettest, most travelled ground on the place. Fit one at any gate you work stock through single-handed, and at the gates where the wind reliably swings things shut behind you at the worst moment.
