Patriot fin tube 4" (25 pack)
Twenty-five four-inch plastic fin tube insulators, an economical way to carry steel or aluminum wire past a wood post.
Details
The fin tube is one of the cheapest ways to insulate a line wire on wood posts, and on a long straight run it is often all you need. The wire runs through the tube, the tube keeps it off the timber, and the fins hold it in position. Four inches long, plastic, twenty-five to a pack, intended for steel and aluminum wire. Where it pays is scale. On a mile of five-wire fence you are looking at a lot of insulators, and the difference between a cheap one and an expensive one multiplied out is real money. The fin tube keeps the cost down on ordinary line posts so you can spend properly where it counts, at the corners, the ends and the gateways. The thing to watch is contact. A wood post that is wet through in spring conducts, so the insulator has to be doing its job everywhere, not just where you remembered to look. Walk the line with a voltmeter after a wet spell and check for the drop that tells you a wire has settled onto a post somewhere. Patriot backs these with a five-year warranty.
