The problem with a fence going down is that nothing tells you. The energizer keeps its light on at the shed, the wire looks the same as it did yesterday, and you find out when the cattle are somewhere they should not be. A fence alert takes that guesswork out. It sits on the line and flashes when fence voltage falls too low or power is lost, so a glance from the yard or the truck tells you whether the system is working. Put it at the far end of the run, or at the end of the leg you worry about most. That is the point that shows a fault first, and it is the point you are least likely to walk to on a cold morning. It fits a range of conductors: poliwire, polirope and braid, politape in both half-inch and inch-and-a-half, and plain steel or aluminum wire. Power comes from a replaceable lithium battery rated by Patriot for up to five years on standby, or about two weeks of continuous flashing once it starts calling for attention.
