Patriot 5'' wrap around t-post extender (Black)
A wrap-around insulator that carries a hot wire 5 inches off the front of a t-post, for keeping stock back from an existing fence line.
Details
Five inches is the working offset for cattle. Two inches keeps an animal from rubbing; five inches keeps her from ever getting to the fence at all. The wire meets her well before her head is through, so a fence that used to get pushed, stretched and eventually walked through just stops being tested. The extender wraps around a standard t-post by hand - no drilling, no tools, no separate clips - and holds the hot wire well clear of the steel. That clearance does two things: it puts the wire where the animal is, and it stops current leaking down a wet or snow-packed post, which is a real problem here from November through breakup. It takes poliwire, polytape, aluminum or steel wire, so it works whether you are running a temporary line or a permanent one. Black keeps the hardware visually quiet along a fence line. Mount them on the stock side of the fence, set the height at about nose level for the animals you are holding, and space them at your existing post spacing. The wire does the containing; the extenders just hold it where it needs to be.
