Most farms out here already have miles of barbed wire or page wire that cattle have learned to lean on, rub against and eventually walk through. You do not need to replace it, you need to put a hot wire in front of it. These extenders wrap around a standard t-post and carry a live wire 2 inches off the face of the post, on the animal side. Two inches is the offset for keeping stock off a fence they are pushing rather than crossing. It puts the wire where a cow finds it with her nose before her shoulder gets to the barb, which stops the rubbing and stretching that wrecks a fence over a season. It also keeps the hot wire clear of the steel post, so you are not leaking current down the post every time things get wet. They wrap on by hand - no drilling, no clips, no tools - and take poliwire, polytape, aluminum or steel wire. Yellow shows up well against grass and snow if you want the line visible to people as well as livestock. Twenty-five per bag, which does a good stretch of fence.
