Details
Adding a hot wire to an existing barbed or page wire fence is the cheapest way to stop cattle from wrecking it, and this is the part that makes it possible. The extender wraps around a standard t-post by hand and carries a live wire 2 inches off the face of the post, on the stock side of the fence. Two inches suits a fence that animals are leaning and rubbing on rather than trying to cross. The wire meets a cow at the nose before her shoulder reaches the barbs, so the fence stops getting stretched and the posts stop getting pushed. Holding the wire off the steel also keeps current from leaking into the post in wet weather and snow. No tools, no drilling - it wraps on and grips, and it accepts poliwire, polytape, aluminum or steel wire. Black is the low-visibility option when you would rather the hardware disappear into the fence line. Twenty-five per bag covers a solid run at normal post spacing. Worth carrying a few spares, because the odd one gets taken out by machinery or a determined animal.
