Patriot 17 gauge aluminum wire 250'
A 250-foot roll of 17 gauge aluminum electric fence wire, a handy size for short paddock runs, offset wires, garden fencing and repairs.
Details
Two hundred and fifty feet is the size that actually gets used up. It is enough wire for a small paddock, a short cross-fence, an offset wire along one side of an existing fence, or a run around a garden to keep deer and dogs out, without buying a quarter-mile roll that sits half-used in the shop for three years. Aluminum conducts far better than steel wire of the same gauge and does not rust, so a hot line made of it keeps its voltage and its connections. Seventeen gauge is light and easy to work with bare hands, which counts for something in October. Run it on standard fence insulators, tread-in posts or t-post extenders depending on how permanent the fence is. Tension it firm rather than tight - aluminum is soft and does not want to be strained like high-tensile steel - and let a compression spring or in-line strainer absorb the seasonal movement. Join lengths with crimp sleeves; twisted aluminum joints oxidize and go resistive, and a bad joint is harder to find than a broken wire.
