The Compact is the shorter-bodied UltraTagger, aimed at speed. It takes Y-Tex two-piece tags, with the female panel seated in the jaw and the male button on the pin. The quick release pin is the part worth knowing about: once the tag is through the ear, the pin comes clear of the button without you having to twist the tool around inside a moving ear, which is where most torn ears and bent pins come from.
