A two-piece tag is two parts doing two different jobs. The female panel hangs on the front of the ear and carries the number. The male button seats behind the ear, holds everything together and presents a smooth, low profile to whatever the animal walks into. That button back is the reason a lot of people run two-piece over one-piece. There is no long stud sticking out the back of the ear to hook a feeder rail, a headgate or a branch in the willows, and the button itself gives you a second small face that can be marked if you want the number visible from behind as well. These come twenty-five sets to a bag in yellow, blank. Yellow is the workhorse colour on most Alberta places, so it is the one to buy in volume and keep the brighter shades for animals you need to pick out. Set them in with a Y-Tex UltraTagger, placed between the two ribs of cartilage about a third of the way out the ear. These are management and visual identification tags and do not take the place of an approved CCIA tag.
