Y-Tex all American swine 25/bag
A bag of twenty-five All American swine tags, sized for pig ears and used for sow, boar and breeding stock identification.
Details
Pig ears are thick, tough and short on real estate, and a tag built for a cow does not belong in one. The All American swine tag is scaled for the job, roughly two inches by an inch and five eighths, which is enough face to carry a readable number without giving a curious pen mate something to chew on. Where they earn their keep is the breeding herd. A sow you are tracking through parities, a boar you need to identify from the alley, or a group of gilts you want to keep straight through selection all need a number that stays put for years, not weeks. A bag of twenty-five suits a small breeding herd or a farrowing group rather than a whole barn. Apply them with the ear held flat and the tag placed in the web between the cartilage ribs, away from the edge where it can tear out. Written or pre-printed, keep the numbering simple enough to read through a dusty alley. These are management and visual identification tags, not a substitute for an approved traceability tag.
