Ask around a community pasture and the medium tag is what most commercial cow-calf outfits have settled on. Four inches by two and a half overall, with a two and a quarter by two and three eighths writing panel, it carries a four digit number in a hand big enough to read from a quad without being so much tag that it flops and catches. Each bag contains twenty-five complete sets, both the male stud and the female panel. The moulding uses Y-Tex's polyurethane formulation with a ribbed neck for flex and a Snap-Lok collar that locks the button to the panel rather than letting the two separate under pressure. Apply with a Y-Tex UltraTagger. Blank tags are the ones you want if your numbering follows the cow rather than a sequence, or if you re-tag through the year and never know in advance which numbers you will need. Write them the night before with a proper tag marker, let them dry, and take a full bag to the chute. Tags of this kind are for management and visual identification and do not replace an approved CCIA tag.
