A sheep's ear will not carry a cow tag, and hanging one in it is how you end up with torn ears and tags in the bedding. SheepStar Mini is built to the right scale at an inch and a half by two and a quarter, with a printable face of one and three eighths by two inches, so the weight sits where the ear can hold it. Each bag holds twenty-five complete sets, both halves. Blank means you number them yourself, which suits flocks where ewe lambs get retained on a decision made in the fall rather than on a plan made in the spring, and where the numbering follows the dam. The usual reason a producer wants a visible number is simply flock management: knowing which ewe raised twins, which one you have treated, and which ones are going down the road. Colour and number together let you sort a pen by eye at lambing without catching anything. These are management and visual identification tags, and they are not a substitute for an approved traceability tag.
