Details
Winter is what sorts a solar fence setup out. Days are short, the sun sits low, and a panel chosen on a summer afternoon can spend December losing ground to an energizer that never stops working. Thirty watts is the largest panel in this range and it exists for exactly that gap. Construction matches the smaller panels: polycrystalline cells, a rugged aluminum frame, a mounting bracket, and a solar panel regulator fitted at the factory. Diodes in the regulator protect the 12 V battery from overcharging, so the panel can be left connected through the bright months without cooking the battery. Reach for this one when the energizer is a bigger unit, when the fence is long enough that the energizer works hard, or when the site is a permanent installation nobody wants to visit with a charger. It also earns its keep where trees or a hillside cut the useful daylight down to a few hours. Give it a solid mount, a southern aspect and a steep tilt so snow sheds. Pair it with a deep cycle battery of sensible capacity rather than a small one, since the panel can only refill what the battery is able to hold overnight. Brought in as a special order item.
