A horse in hard work loses a serious volume of fluid and salt through sweat, and the shortfall shows up as a horse that will not drink, tires early, or comes back stiff. Replacing the salt is what encourages the drinking that fixes the rest. Power Quench is a powdered electrolyte, apple flavoured to make it acceptable in a water bucket. Each 30 gram dose carries 18 g salt, 6 g potassium chloride, 240 mg magnesium oxide, 60 mg calcium carbonate and 5.55 g dextrose, giving a sodium to potassium ratio of about four to one. The dose is 30 grams daily, roughly one scoop, added to drinking water. Always leave a second bucket of plain water beside it. A horse that will not touch the flavoured bucket must still have somewhere to drink from. This is the smallest of the three tubs and suits one horse through a season of showing or trail riding. Step up to the 4.54 kg or the 13.6 kg if you are dosing a string.
