Details
Sweat costs a horse more than water. Sodium, chloride, potassium, calcium and magnesium go out with it, and a horse short on those will drink less rather than more, which is the wrong direction on a hot day or after a long haul. Aqua-Lytes is the liquid version of that replacement. The label lists sodium chloride, calcium chloride, magnesium sulfate, dicalcium phosphate, potassium chloride, niacinamide, glycine, zinc sulphate, copper sulphate, calcium pantothenate, manganese sulfate and vitamin D3. The stated dose is 30 ml daily, added to feed or to water. Liquid suits horses that pick powder out of their grain, and it mixes into water without sitting at the bottom of the bucket. If you are dosing into water, keep a second plain bucket available so a horse that dislikes the taste still drinks. Canadian made, and sold in the jug rather than in single doses, which is the sensible way to buy it if you are feeding through a summer.
