Details
Devil's claw is one of the older herbal additions to a horse's feed, and yucca is its usual companion. Strictly Equine sells the pair as part of its joint and mobility range. That is the manufacturer's wording rather than a claim made for it here. What you are buying is a powder in a 2.27 kg tub, mixed into feed daily. Follow the rate printed on the container, since it is the manufacturer's directions that apply rather than any general rule of thumb. It is most often fed to older horses and to horses in consistent hard work. It is not a substitute for veterinary attention, and a horse that has gone suddenly lame or is in obvious distress needs a vet rather than a bucket additive. One practical note worth knowing before you start: devil's claw is controlled or prohibited under the rules of a number of competition bodies. If you compete, check your association's current list and its withdrawal requirements first.
