Speedrite terminal kit (1000, 2000, 3000)

Knobs are the first thing to go on a small energizer. They get cranked down with pliers, they go brittle in the sun, and eventually one splits and the lead-out wire will not clamp properly. From there the fence reads low and the cause is a cracked piece of plastic. The kit contains two zinc terminals with one red knob and one green knob, covering the fence and earth connections on the Speedrite 1000, 2000 and 3000. It is also listed as fitting the equivalent 1, 2 and 3 joule Stafix models. Those energizers store 1.4, 2.7 and 4.5 joules and put out 1, 2 and 3 joules respectively. Fit them hand tight onto clean wire. A terminal tightened with a wrench crushes the conductor and cracks the knob, and the joint you make by over-tightening is usually worse than the one you were replacing. Colour matters at the terminal. Keep the fence lead-out on the fence terminal and the earth lead on the earth terminal. Reversing them is easy to do and hard to spot once the covers are back on.
