The 330 foot roll is for the bigger crossings: energizer in the yard to a fence line across the field, a run under a long approach, or feeding two or three paddocks from a single buried spine. Same 12.5 gauge conductor and heavy insulation as the shorter rolls, just enough of it to reach. The reason to bury rather than go overhead on a long run is usually machinery and snow. An overhead lead-out gets caught by a swather or a loader bucket eventually, and it collects ice. Underground it is out of the way permanently, and it does not add a lightning aerial to the yard. On a run this length, do the joins properly or do not make any. Every underground splice is a future fault, so if the run can be done in one continuous length, do it. Where you must join, use a proper waterproofed connection and bring it up to a junction above ground rather than burying it blind. And treat the ground side with the same care, since a long lead-out to a fence with its own local ground bed will often outperform one relying on ground back at the shed, especially once the frost is down.
