Speedrite output transformer (6000, 6000i)
The replacement output transformer for Speedrite 6000 and 6000i energizers, a larger component than the one used in the smaller units.
Details
The 6000 series runs a heavier output transformer than the 1000 to 3000 range, matched to the larger energy it puts down the line. It is not interchangeable with the smaller part, and fitting the wrong one will either not physically go in or will not perform. When a 6000 loses output, the transformer is one of two or three likely candidates alongside the output stage and the internal lightning rod. Diagnose before you buy. Disconnect the fence, test at the terminals, and check the ground bed. A 6000 driving a long run in frozen ground with three tired rods will read poorly at the fence while the energizer itself is perfectly healthy. Confirm against your unit's model and serial plate before ordering, since the 6000 and 6000i have been produced over several years. This is internal work on a mains energizer. Unplug it, give the capacitors time to discharge, note lead positions before you disconnect, and if any of that is outside your comfort, bring the unit in for service.
