Details
This is the step-up transformer for the smaller Speedrite energizers. It takes the switched pulse from the main module and puts it onto the fence at working voltage, and when it fails the unit typically lights up and appears healthy while the fence reads nothing. On these units the usual killers are a nearby strike, a surge that got past the internal lightning rod, or moisture. Energizers in unheated shops go through a condensation cycle every time the temperature swings, and over years that finds its way into windings. Mounting the unit somewhere with stable temperature and dry air is the cheapest life extension there is. This transformer is listed for the 1000, 2000 and 3000 series. Those models span more than one production run and Speedrite does not publish a per-serial fitment table for internal parts, so confirm against your unit's model and serial plate before ordering. Fit it with the unit unplugged and the capacitors discharged, and if the unit is also showing damage on the main module, replace both. A transformer put into a faulty drive circuit will not last.
