Insultube is what you slide over the fence wire anywhere it has to pass close to something grounded: through a wooden post, under a gateway, across a steel brace, or where a lead-out leaves the energizer. The heavy polyethylene wall keeps the live wire from leaking to whatever it is passing through. Twelve metres in a roll cuts up into a lot of sleeves. The most common use on a working place is gateway crossings, where the wire comes up and has to be protected from the post and from anything that gets dragged over it. It also earns itself on staples, since a wire stapled to a wooden post without a sleeve will leak badly once the post gets wet, and in a wet spring that is a whole fence brought down by half a dozen posts. Note that this is insulation for above-ground and short protective runs, not a substitute for proper double-insulated underground cable on a long buried lead-out. For anything buried and permanent, use cable rated for the job. Cut the tube a little longer than the hole so moisture cannot track back along the wire.
