Speedrite electrified bungy cord 165' (50m)
165 feet of electrified bungy cord with stainless steel strands, for gateways and temporary openings that need to stay tight and conduct.
Details
This is the bungy cord on its own — 165 feet (50 m) of elastic cord with stainless steel strands running through it, so it carries current while it stretches. It is the same conductor used in Speedrite's bungy gate kits, supplied in a roll so you can make up gateways to whatever width you need. The advantage of a bungy gateway over a plain wire gate is that it tensions itself. A wire gate has to be slack enough to unhook and tight enough to stay out of the grass, and it never manages both for long. A bungy gate pulls itself back up every time it is closed, which keeps it off the ground and out of the mud, and keeps it from shorting on wet grass or snow. A roll this length makes up several gates, or one long opening across a field access. Cut what you need and terminate the ends so the stainless strands stay in electrical contact with the fence — that connection is what makes the gate live. Pair it with an insulated gate handle and a proper anchor, and never handle it by the cord itself. Check tension through the season; elastic does relax over time, and a sagging gate cord dragging in the grass is a fault you will spend an afternoon chasing.
