Details

The econo reel is the plain, dependable reel for temporary fence. It holds 500 m of polywire or 200 m of 12 mm politape, has a 1:1 gear ratio, and can be used with the carry handle or hung on a mounting post. The construction is what makes it last. The frame is galvanised steel with a rugged steel locking system, the spool is insulated from the frame so the reel does not become part of the fence, and the plastic is UV protected. A notched frame gives you a simple, reliable point to connect the fence line to. For strip grazing, temporary lanes and cross fences, a reel is what makes the job quick — wire goes out and comes back in without ending up in a bird's nest in the truck box. At 1:1 it winds one turn of spool per turn of the handle, so if you are pulling in long runs regularly a geared reel will save your arm. For most acreage and paddock work the econo reel is enough. Wind it in dry when you can; poly wound onto a reel wet and then frozen is miserable to deal with the next morning.
